Summer Day Camp Counselor

Essential Functions

  • Serve as a professional role model for our campers by leading through example and guiding campers through recreational activities that teach life skills, encourage healthy and safe behaviors and create a positive camper experience while ensuring safety and proper supervision of all.
  • Be a part of an amazing team of staff focused on teaching teamwork and social skills, and supporting children as they grow and learn while partnering with parents and other adults.
  • Implements curriculum and program activities within the established guidelines.
  • Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.
  • Supervises the children, classroom or site, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate.
  • Follows all policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
  • Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
  • Uses positive reinforcement techniques to address children's behavioral concerns.
  • Maintains program site and equipment.
  •  Attends and participates in family nights, as well as program activities.
  • Enjoys being of service to others and knowing the work you do contributes to building a better community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 18 years old.
  • Basic knowledge of acceptable child care and day camp practices.
  • Knowledge of basic child supervision techniques.
  • Ability to work with and interact with a diverse group of children and parents.
  • Must have Health and TB clearance
  • CPR & First Aid certifications through a nationally recognized organization. 
  • All required online training must be completed prior to hire.
  • Criminal records clearance.
