The Yarrow YMCA in Westlake Village, CA is seeking a Teen Coordinato who has a passion for making a difference in the lives of youth.  Our mission here at the Southeast Ventura County YMCA is to build relationships, impact lives and strengthen our community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  Come be a part of our team!

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  3. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  4. Works 25% of time in ratio of teen events, tween lounge, or youth classes.
  5. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. May review and process program scholarship applications.
  6. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  7. Works with Senior Director to develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  8. Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
  9. Assists Senior Director in Administration of all tween and teen programming.
  10. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
  11. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  12. May assist with Program Committee meetings.
  13. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Teen Nights

  • Organizes and oversees monthly activities and events
  • Coordinates all staffing of each event
  • Orders all necessary supplies
  • Organize all marketing and promotional efforts
  • Engage teens in the community

Junior F.L.Y Kids and F.L.Y Kids

  • Recruit youth 7-16 to participate in F.L.Y Kids program
  • Meet weekly to plan and implement bi-monthly community service learning projects
  • Monitor all registration paperwork
  • Provide various internship opportunities within various departments
  • Work with each department head on mentorship opportunities
  • Host fellowship events
  • Monitor and keep track of teen volunteer hours
  • Establish school partnerships
  • Organize all marketing and promotional efforts

 Teen Pathfinders Day Camp

  • Create intentional curriculum centered around leadership skill development
  • Secure all field trip locations
  • Hire and supervise teen camp counselors
  • Order supplies
  • Participate in all Summer Camp Trainings

 CIT Summer Camp

  • Create intentional curriculum centered around leadership skill development
  • Secure all field trip locations
  • Provide various leadership opportunities
  • Order Supplies

 Tween Lounge

  • Oversee and schedule Tween Lounge Attendants
  • Order supplies
  • Monitor check in and out systems
  • Plan and implement engaging activities
  • Organize all marketing and promotional efforts

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent preferred.
  • YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
  • One to two years of related experience preferred (e.g., as a coordinator of people or activities).
  • Ability to use typical business software and office equipment.
  • One to two years related experience in developing and implementing skill-based programming preferred
  • Minimum age of 21
  • All required online training must be completed before starting work
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate, effectively communicate and solve practical problems and resolve issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent critical thinking skills
  • Ability to multi task and pay attention to details
